Thruway tolls set to rise in January ALBANY, N.Y. (WTEN) -- It’s official, the New York State Thruway Board approved a measure to increase tolls in the coming months and years. It's been 14 years since the last system-wide toll adjustment. Starting January 1 2024, E-ZPass rates will increase by five percent, except for the Mario M. Cuomo Bridge. There will be another 5% increase across the board in January of 2027. The money will cover costs of maintenance, reconstruction and rehabilitation for the 570-mile thruway. Teen to be charged as adult in Fort Ann fatal shooting FORT ANN, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A 17-year-old is being charged as an adult in a fatal shooting in the village of Fort Ann. Man sentenced to 13 years for bringing 6.5 pounds of fentanyl through LAX A man has been sentenced to 13 years in federal prison for trying to bring more than 6 1/2 pounds of fentanyl through Los Angeles International Airport in 2020.Chicago resident Jermaine Eggleston, 35, was convicted in April 2022 of distributing fentanyl after LAX security officers found the narcotics in his checked duffle bag, the U.S. Department of Justice said in a Tuesday news release.On Sept. 14, 2020, his bag set off an X-ray machine for possibly containing explosives, prompting a Transportation Security Administration officer to search it."The officer opened the bag and found, inside a computer keyboard box, three parcels wrapped in tape, plastic wrap, and carbon paper," the release said. "Eggleston checked the bag under his own name for a Los Angeles-to-New Orleans flight.
